I would luv to see a 3D movie shot in 4K. I luv 3D but not post production so much. If you know of a 3D movie shot in 4K, let me know so I can get it.
I suggest you go back an re-read my post above. I identified the cameras used to shoot Transformers: Age of Extinction and The Hobbit, and cited information on the resolution of these cameras, which equalled or exceeded 4K. In other words, I identified two films (technically, three, as The Hobbit was relased in two parts) that were shot in 3D with a resolution of 4K or higher.

I have read it and explored the making of those films and the cameras used. I thank you for the info on those movies very much. I never knew that some scenes were shot in 4k but changed during the process from 4 to 2k which I must admit was a bit over my head in making the final product. The process for the Hobbit was a tad bit different in that the Red camera didn't have a 3D component so they chose another over my head process for 3D.
After reading more on the info you provided, I was stunned by the whole process of the whole eh sausage making lol.
I asked in another place a 3D forum and here are some answers:
"Most likely 8k cameras and down-converted for 3D commercial use. bluray is all 1080p now. I believe some theaters have 4k 3D setups using Left and Right eye videos. Look it up online. You'll get more info about it".

"Only digitally if you have the Apple Vision Pro, I believe The Hobbit movies and Avatar: The Way of Water are available in 4K with HFR as well".

"Technically yes".

I guess, I will ask is there a 3D movie shot in 4k that one can buy lol

3840 x 2160 pixels
To be fair, just because the 3D image is captured in 4K (per eye) does not guarantee that this resolution is preserved throughout the entire workflow. But obviously, you're not going to get a true 4K presentaiton without first capturing the image at 4K (or higher). And yes, it would be nice to have a central database on 3D films that contains resolution information for all stages of production. But here's what we do know - (1) very few live action 3D filmes are actualy photographed in 3D - the 3D effects are added in post production (notable exceptions include 3D films shot by James Cameron and Peter Jackson), (2) there is no optical disc format that allows you to watch 3D movies in 4K, and (3) the Apple Vision Pro reportedly has a maximum resolution of 3660 x 3200 per eye, which falls slightly short of the horizontal resolution of 4K. And what I know is that 3D on the Apple Vision Pro looks damn good. This is one areas where the Apple Vision Pro truly excels, providing a 3D image that's brighter than what you're likely to experience in a movie theater.

Might be crazy but I really want to find more of a reason to get one and 3D has almost thrown me over the edge lol. I just have to take the time to read up on the AVP and how to see 3D on it because I'm sure Apple and studios will not make it easy or consumer friendly. Time for another demo with more Q&A.

The last twenty minutes of Wicked in 3D is 🤯🤯🤯🤯

The “Into the Unknown” and “Show Yourself” scenes from Frozen 2 are particularly impressive in 3D.
