I just updated iTunes, to the new version 7.3, and now it won't open.

I can click it, it bounces in the dock, gets the little arrow underneath, and then the arrow fades away.

I've used Software Update, and even downloaded it from the Apple website, but neither work.

Any Help?

I tried repairing permissions, and restarting, but it still doesn't work.

Could you give us a log file to see what might be the problem?

How exactly?

If I go into Disk Utility and try that one, all it says is 'Disk Utility Started'.

I tried another log file, console.log, and it doesn't say a think about iTunes.

Use SpotLight and type in "Console" (without the quotes) and tell me what you see there. There are many log files in it. Look through them and see which are iTunes related. I'm going through mine and amazingly iTunes hasn't crashed on me! Not even once :D

There's nothing there for iTunes.

I can see other application stuff, but nothing for iTunes. Even if I try and open iTunes and then open Console again, it doesn't say anything.

Click on logs and you'll see many other *.log files. Try looking under /var/log and look at crashreporter. Or just look at console.log and system.log.

Well I found it, and got all excited.

But.... it doesn't have any crash logs that are from iTunes 7.3 .

Of course it's got 7.1 and before that.

Solved.

Solved the problem.

Go into System Preferences, select Shape Shifter, and click on 'Exclude List'.
Then add iTunes to the list.

Worked for me!

If you're still having problems, disable and add-ons/plugins. :)

I had the same problem last night, and has been struggling for hours...... But thanks to you, the same method (Shapeshifter) worked with me too. It solved the problem in a minute!!

Thank you so much!!
