Personally, I love Aqua and can't stand Luna or any other of Windows interfaces so I HATE iTunes 7 interface. But I'll use it because all the new features are excellent. I really hope they don't use this look in Leopard. Aqua is just has so many more subtle details that make it great.

i like the new iTunes look. and i love the deep blue they are using on the store. i hope to see that spread more.

I couldn't disagree MORE!!!! Listen up APPLE.......

LEAVE ALL OF MY GUM DROP SCROLL BARS, OPTIONS BUTTONS et al ALONE!!!!!

I don't want OS X (or any future OS) to resemble some dull nightmare GUI from a Windows reject.

Here's a quick job I did on how I'd like to see iTunes 7.

I love the iTunes UI! I hope it's a preview of things to come (in Leopard). I'd kinda like to see the Apple and Spotlight menus a bit lighter blue as well.

The new interface looks like a rushed mock up to me. The scrollbars grab too much attention, and the buttons at the bottom are plain ugly. Also the EQ and Visualiser buttons are now gone!

I will also miss the old burn button! :(

Only feature worth the upgrade is gapless playback in my opinion.

I wasn't very keen on the black at first, but I'm coming round to it now. I think the reason it clashes (for me) is because it's on that horribly muddy blue. If that was white or yellow the black would look a lot better, I think.

Edit: Did a couple of very quick (and crap, but you get the idea) mockups.
I kinda like the muddy blue! Gives it a nice look of smooth sophistication. :D ;)

Anyone else think the new Album View would be a cool effect to have for the dock in Leopard? Instead of album covers, it's icons. I think it would look cooler, maybe not as intuitive though.

as in UNO colouring including the smooth scrollbars
If nothing else, I'm sure Uno will be Leopard compatible. As long as Apple keeps away from the brushed metal in the Finder, I'm ok. Whatever they call this is fine. I'd like to see it a little darker and glossier for the iApps while the Finder window and other apps like Safari or FF get maybe a slightly different shade, preferably lighter.

In other words, just like I do it in Uno.

I agree with those who don't like the new UI. As soon as I opened the new iTunes I definitely felt my stomach turn lol. It looks so Windows. Just something about it is so dull. I like the sharp looking buttons though, I just think the colors are so drab! I'm all for Apple reinventing their look, but one of my biggest pet peeves is the complete lack of user customization. In Windows XP all I have to do is dl of new theme, and bam I got a nice new interface. I love Tiger, but all I can do (freely, without some $30 rippoff app) is change from blue to gray. Would it be so hard for Apple to implement themes? Like for Leopard they could offer the new iTunes UI standard, but users could switch back to Aqua or even change the metal to white or black etc. I'm not calling for weird skins like Windows Media Player offers, just colors to choose from, come on Apple!

PS: I still love you though :D

Thats dull and boring man....I would like to see coverflow on its own though without the confinement of itunes.

Bless

You used to be able to access full screen view in the (non iTunes incorporated) coverflow app, and I seem to recall that the designer was contemplating additional features including being able to flip the cover over to see the track listing, from which you could select a particular tune. Hopefully this will find its way into iTunes, too. (Incidentally - full screen looked great when playing your library in shuffle - at the end of each song the albulms would wizz by until reaching the next track - my preferred 'visualiser'.

Hmm, I think you're probably right to say this is going to be a glimpse of a Leopard UI. I don't like it. I think the best look of OS X was Jaguar 10.2. From then on it went downhill with different bits here, there and everywhere with Apple breaching their own Human Interface Guidelines. Naughty Apple!

Jaguar was ugly.. i don't like the pinstripes

I personally like Tiger's UI.. i don't really care that it is inconsistent

I dont like the new UI either and have swithced back to version 6 due some other reasons. It looks like a cross between Gunmetal/Plastic (Linux/Windows). I hope leopard's UI is not like this or it will just re-inforce my decision not to upgrade. iTunes 7's features are good but the UI is awful...bring back aqua. I know i'll have to get used to it sometime soon BUT for now i'm avoiding it like a plague.

Best UI for me so far has been panther...tiger is not too far behind.

This release was kinda scary for me. Not because I didn't like it - I loved it. It's because I got creative in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and started thinking up new ideas and looks for iTunes. Most of what I thought up ended up in this release. It's niiice. :D

I hope leopard has a black theme to be honest. :p

But I was thinking the exact same thing when I first opened it, I definately think it's a sneekpeek of the new leopard theme. I like it.

dsandler.org does a magnificent job of tearing apart the iTunes 7 UI. In my book, this counts as one of the biggest Apple screwups since Jobs came back.

If this is the leopard UI, it will make me cry. It is dark and depressing. It makes me feel like it's been eternally gloomy outside. And now, not only are different apps inconsistent, but iTunes is itself inconsistent. We have new gray scrollbars, new gray checkboxes, and buttons, but progress bars are aqua, preferences are aqua, and dialogs are all aqua. It's just a jumbled mess. If it weren't for 7's awesome features, I'd be using 6 w/ Uno. That actually matches the rest of the OS...

Uno lightens things a bit, but the but the scrollbars and buttons remain unchanged.

I've got to agree with a fair bit of that. Having used it for a couple of days, the only thing (cosmetically) I'm really struggling to live with is the all caps titles. I can get used to colours, but caps headings look really naff, shouty and generally ugly. :(

Seems about 50/50 with liking it/not liking it. Personally, I love it! I'd be happy if Leopard looks like this.

It seems as if Apple is just putting out loads of different UI's and getting feedback on them, to see which will be the most popular for Leopard.

lol
why doesn't apple just allow different themes.
Everyone will be happy.
I bet they do in leopard.
