other suggestions

1) I think one very necessary function is collapsability by artist. Imagine the Radio function, but for artists with the number of albums in parentheses. That would help my scrolling time immensely.

2) Automatic album art download when you import (at least) a CD. The CDDB should have that with the other tag info. Wouldn't be bad for other MP3 imports either.

3) Also, I hate it when I want to burn a music CD, Mp3 CD, or DVD and I always have to go into preferences/advanced/burning to see how the hell I set it the last time. I think an optional dialog box with the type of burn would be helpful after you click the burn icon.

4) I think we should be able to move files around easier without getting the "!". If there was a way to link the files to the library, no matter where we move them, this would help me a lot (external hard drives, full internal drive, etc)

Just some food for thought!

I am always amazed that there is a clamoring here for all these silly bells and whistles when iPod doesn't perform its primary task as a music player remotely adequately.

Demand GAPLESS PLAYBACK now!

I think apple could learn somthing off Microsoft this time with there WMP11 interface, witch i just love!

I 100% agree with number 2! I would like to have my itunes library more portable, I currently dont have a working PC, my ipod is synched with my windoes itunes, to get itnunes for windows library working on a mac and for it to preserve all my playlists is not as easy as apple claims and getting it back to a pc after that is apparenly also not easy.

I agree with this i would love to be able to move my stuff around an iTunes intelligently updates its library

Have you ever used the "Browse" feature in iTunes?

Cause it basically does what you want in a different way.

When you are in the Library you click the eye (note" I said eye as in a human eye) in the top right that says "Browse" under it then you get a window like this:
attachment.php

Then you can select whatever album you want by clicking it:

attachment.php

Or select specific albums by pressing command and clicking on them:

attachment.php

Is that what you wanted?

I've always been amazed (since being a "Browse" feature user) how people can navigate their libraries in the default mode. I suppose if users primarily have one or two tracks by each artist it wouldn't be that bad, but for the serious user, "Browse" is the only serious option.

I know, it really does set apart who listens to their music by song or by album.

Although there are some people who use the search feature to find the artist they want, which IMO isn't as fast as using Browse.

I use search over Browse. It's much quicker for me to type the artist's name or album than scroll through the Browse list. The only time I use Browse is if I decide to listen by Genre.

If you click in the artists section of the browse list, you can type to find the artist you want, like you do in Finder.

I find it's easier to "hit" the artists section with my mouse point for a click than the search field.

Of course we all use iTunes how we want to so I'm not trying to change your ways, just telling you something you might not have known already.

I use both search and browse frequently. I find them both equally helpful.
