took 5+ mins to create artwork thumbnails.. but after that.. got into iTunes 8..

i do actually like the grid view.. although the skimming feature a la iPhoto Events isn't there (that i could see anyway)

havent tried any Genius stuff yet, but all in all seems ok so far!

Have to view Artists/Genre, etc in Grid view to skim through all the albums.

No idea but I was listening to my music while letting the Genius tool do it's thing and everything was fine. Anyways, how the hell do I get rid of the arrow that links to the music store? I can't find it anywhere in preferences, I remember being able to get rid of it.

"Show Links To iTunes Store" was the preference.

They've removed it. I hate that arrow.

Dowloaded And Installed

:DDOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED. GENIUS IS DOING ITS JOB. APPARENTLY IT TAKES A WHILE. I'LL LET YOU GUYS KNOW> VERY, VERY HAPPY CAMPER RIGHT NOW!!!:apple:

They got rid of a bunch of stuff on the General preferences tab.

Here are 2 screenshots (7.7.1 on the left, 8 on the right). I notice the ability to turn Genre off when browsing is also gone!

Like Genius....hate the side bar being visable all the time

Anyone know how to hide the Genius sidebar so it's not shown all the time?

Im actually thinking bout reverting to itunes 7.7 because of it, ITS SO IRRITATING!!!

Bottom right there is an arrow pointing to the left, just click on that, similar to the hiding artwork button

They also removed the "Show Browser" button from the bottom. Now you have to open it through the menu...bummer for shared libraries...

I also just noticed that "list view" is the only option available when you're connected to a shared library. That makes the new album cover view useless both at my work machine (via simplify media) and on my laptop at home, because all the music is shared from the mac pro upstairs...i almost never listen to music on the machine where the music is actually located...bummer.

Also, what the F is up with the "buy" arrows no longer being a preference you can turn on/off?

I do not want to buy anything right now, thank you very much! Oh man, I'm going to have to uninstall this if you can't turn off the little arrows...

Me Like Genius!!

:)Damn, the Genius thing is pretty cool!! I've been playing with it the last few minutes or so, and its pretty cool. ME LIKE!! :D:apple:

While setting up Genius:

Feel free to use iTunes while this happens.

Pfft! CPU usage going through the roof, songs stuttering and pausing during playback. What on earth is this Genius tool doing when it is gathering information that it needs so much power?!

Im Updating my iPod Touch and listening to music while Genius does its thing, no slowdown at all, fans did kick up though...

i've timed out sending my info to apple - having to resend

I hope this isn't going to be like the mobileme fiasco

really like the new layout but also annoyed I cant get rid of the arrows!

d:apple:

Ugh, this grid view is horrible. I click an artist, and instead of listing the particular artist's albums, it just starts playing the songs from the start.

Help!!!!!! I installed everything and set it to automatically restart, but when it restarted it doesn't get past the apple logo with the spinning thing. After 30 minutes still nothing. What should I do????? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question

I just deleted about 419 songs and regular emptied my trash. Then I updated to itunes 8 and plugged my ipod in. I look at the trash and it is full. When I clicked on it, there was a folder with random numbers and letters. I clicked on the folder and a bunch of blue folders pop up numbered 1-15 when I clicked on one it opened again and then it opened to a folder labeled 419.

Is this because the songs got deleted from the ipod too? I secure emptied this time, but am unsure as to what happened.
