I've installed iTunes 9.2.1 on my iMac G3, because it's the last version that supports Mac OS X 10.4.11.

When I tried to launch it, I got the message that it requires a G4, G5 or Intel processor. Now that it's installed, how do I go about uninstalling it and downgrading, or forcing it to work?

Forgive any spelling or grammatical errors. My phone's keyboard is acting loopy.

its also worth noting that unofficially I think iTunes 9.1.1 is the last version of iTunes that functions on a G3 :D
You're right - checked iTunes on my Clamshell/Tiger just now: 9.1.1.
Thought about it yesterday (version was somehow burnt into my brain 9.11), but after reading the post and checking on the iMac G3 the 8.2.1 version was installed.
Now, as you told, version 9.1.1 does fine, shares it's iTunes-library to our home-network, connects to the iTunes-library of my MPB/ElCap and broadcasts to our squad of AirPortXpress/Speakers.
(... still thinking about 9.1.1)

Cool, I'll have to check out 9.1.1. I wonder why Apple officially claim v8.2.1 to be the last version for G3?

It was the last version that they supported, just like they claim that Tiger is the last version of OS X for sub-867 MHz G4s etc - all part of trying to convince you that you need to go and buy a new Mac from them :p It seems they stripped out the G3 code from iTunes 9.2, whereas 9.1 still contains it. Similarly they claim iWork '09 needs a G4, but it doesn't!

They stripped out the G3 code, but didn't update the installer to refuse to install on a G3. And apparently, they didn't strip the G3 code out of the installer or else it wouldn't run on a G3. Strong work, Cupertino.
