Why can I not delete the mp3 files from My Music Folder after they have been added to My Library in iTunes? If I delete the file after uploading to iTunes, the file will not play.

iTunes does not store your files, it simply lists them. When you click the file in iTunes, it locates the file in My Music and plays it for you.

In essence, iTunes is simply a way of organizing and displaying your music for easy reference and syncing to portable devices. The music is still stored in your My Music folder.

Thanks for the 411. I was trying to save space on my hard drive. I didn't want the music stored in two difference places.
