I'm curious if anyone else has seen this. It's been happening since at least Mtn Lion I believe. I generally update my iOS apps via the device itself (iPad and iPhone) though I do a wired sync to my MBPr rather than synching to iCloud for backups. I've noticed that even after synching if I go to the APPS section of my iTunes account all the apps that I recently updated via wifi/cellular still show 'update' next to them.

Why doesn't iTunes see that all my apps are updated and reflect that on iTunes when I sync? I'm assuming the ability to update apps via iTunes still exists for those times when updating apps via the device isn't available. Just weird that iTunes can't tell that all my apps are up to date once I sync the device to the computer and remove the "update app" notification.

There may be a good reason for this but I can't think of one'
