ok...everyone keeps saying that ripping songs from a copy controlled cd is not a problem with mac/itunes, yet i cannot do it.

the songs pop up in mu itunes window but i can only play 8 seconds of them. if i try to import them the machine just stops and if i try to copy them onto my hard drive (either drag/drop or copy/paste) a message comes up saying some of the file is missing.

i have also tried the shift trick, but alas to no avail

any ideas out there???

what cd is it?

the cd is the newest the bees (free the bees) it is fresh off the press, maybe they've made the copy control even 'better'...

ha. . . CDs . . . i remeber buying those . . . i think my CD player is sitting in some drawer next to my walkman with the tape deck

i cant believe there are some bands that do not release their music digitally (im assuming you couldnt find this band on iTMS and thus were forced to buy the CD) call the company and complain that the CD doesnt work. write to the band as well and complain. if you are going to spend your hard earned money on a CD you should be able to listen to the music in whatever format you would like!

well, i happen to be one of those old fashioned guys that like to leaf through the cover inlay and read the liner notes as part of the whole cd enjoyment process...geeky? yes, i know...

this band (the bees "free the bees") is probably on the iTMS site, i haven't checked, but that is beside the point...

i really, REALLY want to play it on my mac

goddamn corporates and their stupid solutions...

bah!

I remember having the same problem the other day. It turned out that surface of the CD was dirty. It's just a shot in the dark but wiping the CD might do the trick.
