Itunes and Determining Gapless Information

Everytime I open ITunes, it says "determining gapless information" which kills performance and randomly stalls ITunes. Is there anyway to disable it from determining gapless information????

It should only do this once. Does the process complete if you leave it for long enough?

The process is too slow because it's over a network share and there are many files. I'd rather have an option to disable it.

I don't believe that's possible. Just leave it running overnight.
