I am backing up my iTunes Library to DVD, just to have a hard copy of my stuff. I have lost it once and don't want to go through that again. Anyway, I was curious if you can backup iTunes and exclude the podcasts? I can manually add my podcasts back if something happens, but it seems dumb that I have to back them up.

Any suggestions (other than removing them from the files, then putting them back?)

Sure. Make a smart playlist called "iTunes Backup" and exclude "Podcasts". burn the contents of that playlist to data disc (DVD).

After you make your burn, you can also add a date condition that will only add stuff to your backup playlist that's been added to your iTunes library from today on.

This is what I do. I also exclude items where the category is "Christmas' as well, because I keep those on different discs.

Thanks! I appreciate the information!

But what if the playlist is more than the capacity of the disc?
