iPod touch iTunes Card Credit

On the iTunes WiFi store, can you buy songs with iTunes Card credit that has been redeemed on your computer, or must you use a Credit Card?

Yes, you can.

Will the WiFi Store tell me how much credit I have got left?

I've done it before and you can use it but it doesn't tell you how much is left on your gift card.
