Were people really expecting any of that from Apple?
I know as I posted before it is the same as excepting this from Disney or a Pixar film, it would never happen and I think those companies are doing OK.

I wish Apple would just make a streaming tv service. Obviously there’s a lot that doesn’t into that, infrastructure, deals, and all. But I’d love to drop Comcast and just have live tv on the Apple TV, with a Apple designed interface.

I knows there’s other streaming options, but so far Comcast has the best UI of the bunch.

Is the Comcast app available on Apple TV?

can't wait for the "We are going to redefine the television experience with exclusive seasons of quality entertainment, the like of which has never been seen before"

Whilst launching with a Black Mirror wannabe without all the good bits, to a closed ecosystem requiring more boxes, wires and clutter.

"Apple is confident enough in the HomePod's ability to make these adjustments that there are no built-in options to allow users to manually adjust sound."

What do they know about my hearing or my taste? I find this attitude stupid (to put it mildly).

I am completely on my Apple TV. I subscribe to DirecTV Now, Netflix, HBO.

I initially ordered 1 white HomePod, but will order another once 2 work together.

My hope is to have a HomePod on the wall on either side of my TV
and to control my TV through VOICE CONTROL. ;-)

I want to know more about if this setup will eventually work. I am hoping the sound is as good as I am hoping for.
It will not work. Your music will sound very tiny and void of bass.

Apple's plans are becoming crystal clear with further and further attention paid to the Apple TV app as a counterpart to Apple Music. The only remaining question is how the subscription prices will work. I think that Apple is best offering an all inclusive price that includes all tv and music. They'd kill Spotify almost immediately.

You can control volume on the HomePod right on the top of the device.

When did anyone ask for Apple to produce content?

What I want to know is what they’re doing to improve content delivery on their platform, which is what they’re supposed to be doing.

Shame, I've been doing this for years now and for a lot less money. Oh well.
[doublepost=1518046416][/doublepost]Late and overpriced, but purdy, right Apple?

No problem, Eddie.

As an original Apple TV owner (the silver one with the hard drive) and every model except the 4k one, I'm used to waiting for promises, then waiting some more. I've got time.

My 5.1 Receiver in the living room will stick around for some time yet. If you are hoping to emulate a hometheatre setup that includes a subwoofer I think you will be disapointed.

I am also completely on the Apple TV and will be looking for a pair of HomePods for the bedroom TV. Likely to place them on either side of the bed. Soundwise this might be overkill, but I fail to see a better option at this point when considering ease of use, setup, and overall design/looks. Assistant features are least important.

Is it really about your taste? Some would argue that it is all about what the original artist intends you to hear.

Try looking into the HDHomerun and Channels App. It's awesome.

I've cut the cord for free over the air channels. I believe HDhomerun also has Cable card option for the US.

Psh. Cue needs to exit, badly. I feel like the services under his leadership have tanked in quality.
iTunes, Maps, Siri were terrible under his management.
But Apple Pay, Music, Apple News were all amazing services.
Kinda 50-50 I think

Apple's TV plans are already imploding. Bryan Fuller just left the reboot of Amazing Stories because of creative differences with Apple. Apple wanted it to be family friendly, Fuller didn't:

Cue gonna Cue. Playing hardball with creative talent by insisting the content they produce is family friendly is going to blow up in his face.

Hurry, everyone under your beds! Apple's TV plans are imploding! One of the production team members is leaving one of the shows! JD please let us know when it is safe to come out!

50% is an ‘F’ by anyone’s metric.
The long awaited Apple TV content plan? They should've bought Netflix years ago with their massive cash pile.

It would make no financial sense for Apple to buy, or have bought, Netflix. Apple already has almost everything that Netflix does. Apple doesn't need Netflix' technology or people. The vast majority of Netflix video is simply licensed material that Apple and everyone else can and do license. Netflix does have "original" content, but that remains a small amount of it's material and certainly not worth the $50 billion dollars or so that it would cost to buy Netflix.

Indeed, Netflix is actually in a precarious position going forward as the cost of licensing content is increasing rapidly, but Netflix has limited ability to raise prices to keep up with rising costs. Amazon, Apple, HBO, Hulu, etc., are all bidding for the best talent to produce "original" content, but Apple, Amazon, Hulu, etc., can afford to overpay and use that content to bring users to their other services, etc. Netflix can't. The same problem exists for Spotify.

No. They don't support Smooth Streaming with Playready which a lot of studios want to use as their DRM. Their services and products are not platform agnostic.

If it were so easy, why is Apple losing out? Why is everyone talking about the latest Netflix series? It certainly is being undervalued by Apple, given the recent outbid by HBO on JJ Abrams' sci-fi drama.

That is why Netflix has their own studios in Los Angeles now.
