Hi, I'm new to itunes and was reading the online help manual, which says that when I click delete on a song, I should have two options. One is to remove the song from my library and the other is delete the song from my computer permanently. I would like to delte the song from my computer, but the only option is "are you sure you want to remove the song from your itunes library" Can anyone help.

I'm using a pc and have left my songs in their original location and have not imported them into itunes folder. Thanks

If you click remove, it will pop up with the option to keep file in original location or move to trash, along with the option to cancel.

It doesn't. I click delte and then remove. It simply takes it off the itunes music list and the song is still on the computer. No options once I click remove. Perhaps my songs would have to be imported into the itunes music folder?

That is how it works on mine. If I import songs to the iTunes Media folder it will give the option to delete them. Otherwise it just removes it from the library.

I think it has to do with a setting that is something like "let itunes manage my media" (I can't remember the exact wording). Basically, if you have iTunes set-up to copy the media you import into the iTunes folder on your computer then you WIL get the 'remove from my computer' question but if you have iTunes set-up to just have the media listed in iTunes but not copy it into the iTunes folder you won't be given that option.

If the music's inside the iTunes media folder (whatever you've set that as in prefs) it'll ask you whether you want to trash to file etc..

I set my "Music" folder as my iTunes Media folder so I get asked with every file.

is there a third party app that will do it? I did a google for iclean tunes, which did it. But that was a few years ago and it doesn't appear to be available. I would prefer managing my own music; I heard, itunes creates several different folders and shuffles music into it. Is there any benefit in importing songs to itunes folder other than having the ability to delete? Thanks
