I have my itunes with my main music libray which consists of albums in m4a format. I also have playlists with some the same albums in mp3 format.

the problem is itunes seems to add on the mp3 files to the m4a files of each album to the main my music library.

For example; an album A, in m4a format is added to my main library, and I would also like this album A in mp3 format for another ipod added to my playlist for mp3s.

when I go to look at album A in my main library, there will be two of every song in that album; one in m4a and one in mp3.

how do keep itunes from doubling up the song files like this? I want the mp3 versions of my albums to be in the playlist, not doubled up in my main music library as well.
