iTunes: embarrassingly clueless: Guides?

Hi, this is my first post.
Though I have been a Mac-ist for many years, I have never used iTunes until, literally, a couple of months ago (long story).

I have some kind of a mental block whereupon I just can't understand some of the most basic concepts/definitions/terms.
I have looked through guides, forums,tutorials and taken Apple Store workshops but I just haven't been able to grasp iTunes.

Could anyone point me toward a resource that is below basics?
Seriously, I'm talking Sub- iTunes-for-Dummies here.
Forget "How to Boil and Egg"; i don't even know how to turn on the stove.

I am so embarrassed but I really want to get right with iTunes.
The sad thing is that I have something like 10,000 CDs.

What you want to do first, if you're planning on importing your library, is...

Well, check your free HDD space first, but then...

Open iTunes. In the Menu Bar, go to iTunes, Preferences, General, and change where it says "When you insert a CD" to "Import CD and Eject"

So that once one is done, you know and can move to the next one swiftly.

Next, we need to establish if you are an audiophile. Do you want the highest possible quality of music? You can mess with settings as you wish. Then, once you have songs imported, you can get song names, info, and album artwork from the Menu Bar (Advanced, Get Album Artwork/Track Names).
