Stike, you're really trying your hardest to do this down. It's just bloody launched! Give it a few days and I'm sure it will be as solid as the US store. If it aint then I'm sure I'll be criticising too!
I am not a negative creep and so on, and I know it just launched.

I thought this was all. I was terribly wrong, and I want to excuse me for all this. Because:

- The Main Site is now in German!
- Every displayed song/album is available to buy!
- The price still rocks!
- It looks like iTMS USA Version 1.0 one year ago, but hell, it works now 100 %
- The charts have now been reset
- Looks like its just got going!
- Let the new songs start rolling in now!

W00T for iTMS Germany :)
I will shop something today, let me see what it will be...

so whats the scoop then - on the one hand people are saying its the full US store, 700,000+ songs etc, and others are saying there's loads of stuff missing?

and yes - why aren't people browsing? thats whats so great about iTunes - the store is browsable in exactly the same way as your library is. i spent some time compiling a list of odd tracks i want to buy just by browsing and picking stuff out.

Have found a few items that list when you browse, but don't have any content there. Yet.

Tried to find a Klezmatics album, but although they are listed in the browser, there is no music there. I expect there will be some items still to add, or maybe just not licenced inthis country.

Shame, I wanted some Klezmatics!

The attached pic shows the new German Store. All localized.
The problem is, it lacks quite some artists. I wanted the George Michael Album, but he is missing. Now I am looking for alternatives to buy today :)

of course it's easy to get one ;)....never doubted that
but as soon as you try to buy something outside of a petrol station and souvenir-shops you're in trouble.....i've never seen anybody buying something with a credit card succesfull in my whole life (except american movies)

i seriously doubt that a lot of people will buy a credit card just because of iTMS

Well, there is no doubt that Austria is waaaay behind the rest of the world when it comes to credit cards. Here, when you buy something in a shop they expect you to pay cash, or go to the bank and do a credit transfer. They have a bank card which takes the cash straight out of your account, but many places don't take it. It's used mainly in supermarkets and clothes shops.

Now, when I lived in Denmark, they had your ID/bank and credit card all rolled into one. One card was all you ever needed to have. And everywhere took the card.

Still, Austria has nice mountains....

I'm sorry, this going to be off-topic, I've bought lot's of things with my credit cards, books, cloths, software, CDs etc (and so have lots of people I know). Today most shops accept credit cards. So it's perhaps a cultural difference.

European collection smaller

Not that I'm unhappy with iTunes MS Europe, but I am slightly miffed that the collection of music is definitely more limited. Choosing 3 artists that I like:
Cat Power - (UK) no results, (US) loads
The Strokes - (UK) no results, (US) loads
Modest Mouse - (UK) 1 - their latest album, (US) all their albums

This is a major pain, because for me the real advantage of iTunes Europe was the ability to get music that I find difficult to get over here... Some of this stuff isn't all that bad - but I don't see why we don't get the same stuff as the US - all down to licensing I'd've thought!

Are songs still being added as we speak? I'm not sure, but I think they are - maybe apple couldnt get everything done in time for the big launch...

i'm definitely upset about the lack of artists - especially people like No Doubt, Sarah McLachlan, etc. I held off buying the albums for these artists in favour of the iTMS, and now it doesnt 'stock' them :(

Ah well.

Traditional Apple Courtesy

Well, Guernsey (and I presume the other Channel Islands) aren't allowed to use the iTunes UK Music Store. Shame about that - they e-mailed back to say it wasn't available in my region yet, but to keep an eye on the previews so I can line some up for when it IS available. That's courtesy for you.

Not so happy day any more :(
