Hi All,
I was just wondering if I was the only one with audio quality issues when streaming the iTunes Festival live tonight?
Initially, I was watching it through my ATV3, but the distortion that I was getting made the experience repulsive. I have my ATV3 connected to a mid-high end 2-year-old Pioneer 7.1 ch receiver (forget the model # atm), passed through to my Sharp TV. The video quality was great, and the audio was allegedly a 5.1 Dolby stream. It seemed that when the volume of the band or singer increased, the distortion worsened.
I opened the app on my iPad4 to find that there was no distortion on the built-in speaker, but when ported directly to the ATV3 via airplay, the distortion returned. When I mirrored the iPad display, the audio went to 2 channel, but was clear. I tried mirroring from my MacBook Air and Mac mini to find decent quality. Once I hooked my Mac mini up directly to an extra HDMI port on the receiver, I got crystal clear 2.0 channel audio.
My receiver automatically detects the source type and switches to the appropriate speaker config., and I tested the ATV3 with both Netflix and iTunes movies that were 5.1 format, and all were fine.
Am I crazy, or did this happen to anyone else?
