iPod itunes flawed on basics

I have three aiff files that I have recorded from itunes....no matter how many times Apple updates iTunes...you still cannot drag and drop audio files on the desktop to the ipod or to itunes...
I WOULD LOVE TO ASK THE ITUNES TEAM...what are you thinking???????

I drag stuff in all the time just fine. Maybe you're just in a smart playlist or something.

I have tried drag and drop...I have tried import...I have dried edit your playlist...NOTHING WORKS.
