iTunes for Mac does not play audio CD

My 667MHz TiBook doesn't like optical discs either. Sometimes it decides it wants to play a DVD, other times it just doesn't recognise it. If it's reading data discs and DVDs, sounds like a preferences issue. Have you tried deleting all the preference files stated above?

Maybe restore some of the optical drive's firmware to its default settings with a PMU reset.

I tried what you told me to do but did not help. It must be a iTunes issue as my Quicktime and VLC players have no problem playing the same CD. Thanks for your help.
