iTunes for Windows is horribly slow and unusable. I'm using it on a laptop with 16GB of ram, SSD and i7. I know the app is very behind and lagging in regards to Apple's Mac apps but I really hope there is some news of an upgrade. I can't use Apple Music at all as it is painfully slow refreshing every click.

Any news about a refresh or is this it for Windows development for Apple Music and iTunes? I was hoping to cancel Spotify but their desktop app is so much better. I really don't want to use my old phone to listen to music at my desk for 8 hours when it is much easier to mouse over to a desktop app and select a song or playlist.

EOL for iTunes. I use to find it would make a mess of Windows Vista/7 and bring my system to its knees - even not using or running just whatever it does was using 25% background. And trash Windows. Seems better now but I don’t use it.
I installed iCloud and it came for the ride. With iCloud do not install from Apple web site, the version on Microsoft Store is better and iCloud is regularly updated. So if you dl’d from Apple, uninstall it.

Good idea @IowaLynn I updated iCloud and iTunes via the Microsoft Store and uninstalled the standalone programs. This way when new updates arrive, the store can update them automatically.

I'm having similar issues. iTunes is painfully slow on pc, no matter if using the standalone or Microsoft store app. I also have issues connecting it to my homepod. I wish apple would update their app already.

They have a web app which kind of works, but is also pretty slow at loading songs. (https://beta.music.apple.com/us/listen-now)

iTunes was never good on Windows. Not in 2004, not in 2014. Surprising given that it was a great way for Apple to market to Windows users the quality of OS X apps but they totally missed the mark.

Windows would be working fine. Until I installed iTunes. Would see a steady 25% cpu usage devoted to it. It use to install it's own little subsystem with files in multiple locations, trouble updating. End result, bringing Windows to it's knees. And make it look bad.

Remember, Apple use to have Safari for Windows, too, back when.

I am finding iCloud on current hardware much better.

I did update everything from the Microsoft Store and hoping for a new release soon. It's unfortunate because Windows isn't bad when you have good hardware. I can't speak to cheaper laptops and desktops that run it though with extra software. I just upgraded my Alienware 17 r4 with a fresh SSD and it was a fast simple process. I'm used to Mac hardware and never opening anything up.

If it makes you feel any better, it sucks big time on my 16-core Mac Pro 7,1 with 288GB of RAM.
