I hate to "bump" this since I've been the last two posts as well, but I'm hoping someone has more insight or new info. I updated my most recent post last night so I know it didn't show in anyone's subscriptions. This freezing issue is driving me crazy and I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

Alright, guess I'll be posting again with an update since I have new information and nobody else is replying anymore.

I took my iMac into the Apple Store and they did multiple tests without finding any errors. They then did a clean install and once Lion was freshly back on the iMac they had me login to iTunes and started downloading my entire purchase history back onto the wiped computer. It got through almost 200 songs before it hit a TV show series, and when it started downloading a couple HD episodes it froze up. They couldn't figure out what was causing it so they checked it in and told me they would start troubleshooting by replacing the hard drive and RAM.

I'm supposed to get a call within 48 hours which would mean by the end of today, but they said I should have it back within a week hopefully. I'm trying to be optimistic about all this, so we'll see what happens.

Did they find anything?

Hope they soved it!

They didn't find any problems, but they replaced the RAM and the hard drive (and the optical drive, but that was a separate issue) and the problem is gone. I've been able to move around in iTunes with no more freezes. For the first time I was able to update all my podcasts and apps at once. :)

Same here, friend. I recently purchased iTunes Match and its been going nice; fine and dandy. But, just today, i tried importing some music into itunes from some CD's. I got them onto the computer, but when iTunes match starts up to get those few songs, I get the rainbow wheel beach ball thing. Very Annoying.I can barely use iTunes. I can only use it on my iPad and iPhone. Any suggestions?
Hi,

I've been experiencing the same thing on my iMac but it's gotten much, much more noticeable lately. It might not be worse, but since I added iTunes Match it's been a real pain. Basically, I'm trying to replace all my lower quality songs (about 3,000) with iTunes 256kbs versions. When I'm lucky, I can get iTunes to download about 100 or so songs but then I get a spinning beach ball which hangs everything. I end up having to do a hard reboot each time which is making this very frustrating.

I'll keep my eye on this thread to see if anyone finds a solution/workaround.

BTW, I'm running the latest version of iTunes (as of 18 Nov 11) and Lion is fully up-to-date as well. If it helps, it's a 24-inch early 2008 iMac with 4 GB of RAM.

Best regards,

Anthony
