iTunes Match != iTunes in the Cloud. ;)

What he/she wants is to match his DVD/BluRay imports of his iTunes library against the cloud so he/she can stream them, download them to iOS devices (*cough* storage space *cough*), Macbook Air (*cough again* storage...) and Apple TV (*cough* no storage at all even! *cough* smart decision *cough* /s)

Hmm, so Itunes in the cloud is not really Itunes match? What he wanted was Itunes match, right?

I would rather....

I would rather pull my eyes out than buy or rent a movie from itunes in Japan ! crap and crap !! Mostly, Hollywood B movies dubbed over in Japanese and no way to turn the language to English

"iTunes in the Cloud was first launched for music in June 2011 in the United States, with Apple adding movie and TV show support for U.S. users in March 2012."

Seems like you already have it?

"iTunes match" vs "iTunes in the Cloud". I want Apple to match the movies I have ripped from my physical collection so i can access them from the cloud. Basically do what they did for music, but with movies.

Sorry for this hateful posting... I am happy for all the lucky ones that got the feature for today. But I hope that you can understand how we Germans feel about that?

Still no Germany... Just like always when iTunes movies have to suck somewhere![/i]

Damn that's a shame i'm from germany and the only thing preventing me from buying movies or series.
Stupid german content companies

Totally agree, German federal law should be revised urgently. My list of shame contains:

iTunes Match: one year of delay before introduction
iCloud push notification: disabled since last year
Two-Step verification for Apple ID: disabled after two days
iTunes Movie in the Cloud: not introduced up until now
iTunes Radio: we all know what's going to happen...

At first I thought the title meant iTunes Match for Movies now available and I was about to do a dance. ;)

Apple bitchslapped all the Germans again! Like they did since the introduction of iTunes in the Cloud long time ago. We weren't lucky at any time that Apple announced new countries to get iTunes in the Cloud for Movies and TV shows.

It's such a shame! How dare you, Apple?

How do you know that it's Apple and not perhaps the Studios etc blocking Germany. Perhaps there's something in local law they find distasteful and this is their way of avoiding it, by not letting Apple turn the service on.

Something tells me that Apple would love to have Match/in the Cloud etc everywhere. Probably love to have all titles in all stores at the same time, reduce price, add quality etc. But they don't really have control to do those things. The Studios have to give it to them.

if only we could get iTunes Match for videos....

Likely never to happen. Not the way that folks want. The best we might get is some kind of trade in where you can send your old physical disks some where and get a free 'buy' on the iTunes version. Or perhaps some kind of software that can tell that you put a legit purchased disk in your computer and triggers it that way.

But the studios and tv nets will never allow for the kind of 'matching your torrents' game that music has.

That to me is just dumb. Why aren't there multiple language tracks, subtitles etc. Why can't I download something like My Neighbor Totoro and pick to watch it in Japanese or English etc. Not to mention just having to wait at all. Let me get it in Japanese now, redownload later with the English track when that is finished.

Meanwhile... changing your country in iTunes leads to losing all your purchase history... resulting in a blank, pristine cloud... Stupid, annoying issue... ( I moved over from France to the UK recently and had to register a UK debit card)

Search for what you bought and want to watch. Then click the buy button to get it. I believe you will be told you already own it and get an option to download it now if you want. Seems that just the Purchases 'page' gets amnesia.

Don't feel bad. Of the six categories making up the iTunes availability list, pretty well each category needs a special arrangement/contract, and that is different for each of the 155 countries on the list of nations, where APPLE currently does business. Putting that into the context of the progress they've made so far, and one can see, this continues to be an enormous undertaking.

And as noted by others, those negotiations don't always go so smoothly. There's only so much APPLE can do to secure those agreements. Other than the US, there are only four other countries on that list of 155, who have the whole suite of six services available as of today. Source: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5085

THIS! For people who travel and have 2 homes, with itunes accounts for each home, this is a pain.

In the Netherlands, you can hire or buy iTunes movies, but the offer is quite limited.. Classics and C-movies. Classics like Back To The Future part 1 for hire for € 4 anyone? With C-movies I mean movies that nobody has ever heard of.

iTunes Movies never become a hit with these movies.

My library has had 28 movies added for my US account after this event. They seem to be Fox and Paramount/Dreamworks titles from my Digital Copy redemptions.
A lovely surprise.
