iTunes issues. Won’t recognize phone, hangs.

I went to back up my phone the other day. Opened up iTunes (for PC) and was prompted to sign in to Apple Music. Plugged in my iPhone X and... nothing. Went to close iTunes and it hung. Had to task manager out of iTunes. Tried this several times and no different. Tried a different lighting cord and no luck. Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and still nothing.
PC is running fine otherwise. Anyone have any ideas? Ran a virius scan with no results.
