iPod touch Itunes library grey'd out?

Hi guys, I have a problem. All the songs in my Itunes library are literally grey'd out. the songs are grey and transparent and will not let you click any of them to change the info, play a song, check or uncheck a box, or even delete it. Any idea's of whats going on? Any suggestions appreciated!
P.s- I can still add songs into the library i just can't change them in any way once they are there.

Are you looking at the library in iTunes or on your touch when it's connected?

It's greyed out unless you check "manually manage"
