Hi there, I have a few space left in my hard disk of Macbook Air, I was wondering if I can store the iTunes library with all the songs in a separate external Unit, so I will have a free space on the Hard Disk, or does this affect the correct functioning of iTunes?

YES. I've been using a PNY StorEdge SDXC 128gb card for my iTunes and photos libraries on the go. When I'm at my desk I have a thunderbolt dock with a usb3.0 drive with my 'complete' libraries. Works fine. Just hold down the option key when clicking on the iTunes icon in the dock and it will allow you to switch libraries when starting the app.

Good luck.
