iTunes Match overall size grows when downloaded

This is an interesting one.

Have been using iTunes match since day one.

Upgraded my Mac and just deleted everything, all songs were in the cloud so my plan was to just download them onto the new machine.

In iTunes before the download the overall size of my library is 2048 songs and 9.55GB. When I highlight all songs and choose download all is good. However as it begins to download the overall size begins to grow, finally ending up around 17.2GB. I have tried this on two different machines now, while in the cloud it says 9.55, when i download it goes to 17.2 or so ..

Any ideas?
