iTunes Match to Apple Music/Family Sharing

Hi all

I haven’t posted for quite a while... but I have a few questions and wondering if anyone could help.

Basically me and my partner share the same iTunes account and share my iTunes Match and my movies etc... however we both have our own iCloud accounts and pay for our own storage plans, he has never purchased anything with his Apple ID

Now I am seriously considering making the switch from iTunes Match to Apple Music... and also utilising the family sharing feature.

As I understand it, I would have to get the Family Plan on Apple Music for this to work... but I am just wondering what other issues I may find I have when doing this...

what will happen with our individual iCloud storage plans... will they simply merge, will we loose everything?

what will happen with my current iTunes Match library, will all that be lost, am I best of downloading everything and starting a fresh?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

easiest way to do this is with family sharing, turn that on and all your billing items merge for sharing (subscriptions and apps) while retaining individual repositories for music, photos, iCloud Drive, etc.

Hi thanks for the information, I have now set up everything and activated family sharing... one thing which is a bit confusing...

with purchase sharing does that mean that if my partner purchases anything it will now be charged to my card? Does that also apply to in app purchases aswell?

yes, AFAIK, you can only have one card. Or at least that is how I have it set up. The nice thing is, anything purchased by a family member ever, is now retroactive for the other members to install/purchase/use.

also, if you didnt figure it out yet, even though your individual items are still stored under your Apple ID (and not seen by the other person), the iCloud storage pool is shared. So you may need to bump up your overall iCloud storage plan if you both have large amount of files.
