Okay, so I'm not alone. Ever since last week I encounter this problem (yes, right after updating to 11.5.x). Before that, iTunes Match was running quite well... once I learned how to work around its issues.

I actually started having issues with this about 3 weeks ago, where I literally spent days trying to upload some songs, getting stuck on the matching part. Managed to get it working after spending hours speaking to Apple Support. Can't fully remember how it was fixed (literally tried everything I could find online) - think the files were corrupt in some way, so I had to convert them.

Go to upload some new music yesterday and exactly the same thing has been happening to me. Been trying all day to fix, but at least now it seems it's not likely an issue at my end. Very frustrating though, I still use an iPod, so don't want to go exclusively to Apple Music.

I now use a 3rd party CD Ripper and convert the CD to a FLAC format. If I want ITunes to also use it I import the FLAC CD. Frequently I have to find and manually move the album cover to the albums iTunes folder.

I buy the album, but I have had songs or entire albums just disappear off of iTunes. I also pay for Match but I am moving my songs to a NAS server and planning to use Plex to play music.

I have had the same problem now for at least 8 days, but other users had already been complaining to Apple on the support pages since mid July on Apple Support

I guess you only realise that it's broken when you try to upload new music which for many might only be every few weeks. Currently been waiting 8 days for 18 tracks to 'match' or 'upload' and all I see in my Apple Music app is....waiting.

Biggest frustration that I think most of us have is absolutely no acknowledgment from Apple on any level.
If they told us there was a fix on the way, I think most people could work with that.

What's a good alternative to upload your own music?

Having your own Plex library can provide this flexibility.

Then apps like Prism Music (iOS, for downloaded music,) and Prologue (iOS, for downloaded audiobooks) can be used directly with your Plex library – essentially giving you an ‘iTunes library’-like experience with your own content.

Prism Music looks especially like the old Music.app before it got *****.

Additionally, I’ve been evaluating Plexamp and I really like it (but it does require a Plex subscription.)

If you hate Plex, then alternatives like Jellyfin are available, but without the widespread app support, more of a web UI only sort-of setup.

I will never rent my music. This sucks and I’m sorry for anyone having these issues. Lately Apple has been as disappointing as it has been wonderful.
That's the whole point about iTunes Match. That's the service where you don't rent your music like with Apple Music. Your tracks are uploaded to the cloud, or replaced by Apple Music matched songs, WITHOUT the DRM. You will be able to keep on playing them on other devices, OS-es, software, during and after your iTunes Match subscription. Totally different from Apple Music, which also has a matching-like service, but it'll include DRM on your songs, so you won't be able to play them on other devices, OS-es, software and at all after termination of your subscription.

iTunes Match members, gather round... We are a rare (but distinguished) breed.

is there any easy way to batch download everything from iTunes Match?

I would like to do this sometime to an external, since my original external with music crashed years ago and I've lazily relied on the cloud for my personal collection. I've kicked the can down the curb

but I would like a local copy in case things ever get wonky beyond recognition

Living your best life = at some point the album art for Sinatra's "New York, New York" was changed to a compilation of drag queen favorites. At first I was OUTRAGED and almost tweeted about it, then realized it was funny AF, and also not a lie.

Maybe Apple does know better than us about these things.....

My issue is missing music that I KNOW I matched (have been on and paying for Apple Match since it started).

I noticed it at Christmas when a CD I uploaded by Josh Caterer from The Smoking Popes was nowhere to be found in my library even though I listened to it every year and loved some of the songs as part of my Christmas mix. It is not available when searching Apple Music (no surprise) but it was also not in my library. WTF?

I'm sure this isn't the only example, but with more than 18,000 songs painfully added to iTunes over the years, how am I suppose to know what isn't there if I can't check to see if it ever was?

btw...I've been on Apple Music for a few years now and absolutely love it...but I want the songs I paid for and uploaded (and continue to pay for this service).

Over past few WEEKS users are frustrated?!?

Back when Match launched, I uploaded my massive, meticulously curated library, with months of live recordings and Match completely hosed my Library. Still hosed today - however many years later (when did Match launch?).

Ex: I’ve recorded a lot of live performances over the years from taper-friendly bands like Phish. With Match, 60% of a show plays the files I recorded. The other 40%, Match decided to replace the live recorded file with a studio version of the same song without any kind of notice or apparent way to fix. Makes fir an awful listening experience. Has been the biggest nightmare of my near 30-year Apple journey. Just, forever broken. Been a while since I thought about it. Grrr.

The suckiness of Match actually made me switch from my Apple music family sub to a Spotify Family sub. Mostly because of my wife. She buys albums at specific BPMs to use in fitness classes from various royalty free online shops. She'd make playlists with these songs then have Match switch them all up.

I too suffered the famous mismatched library after the Match debacle. Even though I backed up (using time machine) Apple couldn't fix it at that time. Backups are long gone now, I assume. I'll never forgive Apple for that F-up they did, and I'm reminded each time I see my music collection, oh it was fun to curate that back in the day. Even so I did have Apple music for a short length of time...still went back to exclusively using Spotify (load times and auto-curated lists are vastly better, imo)

My library is also still hosed to this day. I really need to just remove all music from my computer at this point.

I can attest to this as part of the Apple Music subscription. Apple Music has been very flaky in the last few weeks as well in terms of library search, playback, and streaming to HomePods.
