Great. Now let's all get back to complaining about how Apple Music w/ iTunes Match is broken and no one is fixing it.

Itunes Match as an standalone service is still working?. Just curious.

That’s good to hear. Another poster on this thread said his recordings of concerts etc. got screwed up my Match. What type of music CDs are you ripping that’s not in Apple Music, classical music? When you say your music, it’s music you created and recorded and then uploaded to iTunes which Match matches across your devices?

Actually quite a bit of music is still not available digitally either for buying or streaming. Take for example film scores. Plenty of expanded/complete/remastered editions of film scores are only available on physical CD (and often in a limited run of 1000-5000 copies). Thus, I buy the ones that I like, rip them, and upload them to Icloud Music Library. There they live side by side along my Apple Music content, and I can access all of them seamlessly from all my devices.

On top of that, I can fully edit the metadata and the artwork of everything, even the Apple Music albums that I add to my library, which is vital to me. No other service allows this.

Yes it’s infuriating. Been trying to update my cloud library all day. Not working…
To stop stressing myself with the Apple Concrete wall, I asked for a refund : they paid me half of what I spent, almost, prorated refund and it's ok. 10 Years of service ended today.
Launched iTunes and got the message:
You are no longer subscribed to iTunes Match
Happy to be out 😊

Music CDs - mostly Japanese pop from the 80s, the one I ripped yesterday being a Masahiko Kondo title that hasn't been available since 1995. My own music, yes, tracks I recorded myself (own compositions) - definitely not available on iTunes and purely to test the system. Those were added on my iMac and all songs are available across my other devices via Apple Music. No issues and the uploads were swift.

Meanwhile, I did another test today with "The Final" by Wham! which is definitely on Apple Music, and with that title only 1 song uploaded, the rest "waiting". I am guessing that as it was a 1986 CD, the track that uploaded - "Careless Whisper" is possibly not the same version as on Apple Music.

Merging your music library with iTunes Match or Apple Music is a very VERY bad idea… I wish someone had told me of the potential problems in advance. It’s taken me more than a year to rebuild my library after using iTunes Match. It’s a shame you can’t keep the two libraries separate which is why I reverted to Spotify, which also has the benefit of not being linked to my apple id.

Maybe i’m being slow but if you don’t have Apple Music, how would your library be damaged by Match?

ive had Match since they introduced it and have never had any library issues.

So count me among those who can't get Match to work currently. But I'm also among the few who pay for Apple Music AND Match, so I just want to confirm I can officially cancel Match and save me money that I've been throwing away for years (been an Apple Music subscriber since day one). Will Apple Music upload non-apple music tracks (mixtapes, live recordings, remixes, etc.) just fine?

Edit: confirming that it's clearly the *matching* that's not working, because I uploaded a live recording without issue just fine right now, but an attempt at "matching" an album continues to fail.

I have issues with iTunes match as well. It hasn't worked since I noticed this thread and decided to add a song to my library.

I have also noticed a few other issues for sync on iCloud drive (files didn't sync even though they appear to have done so).

I have my whole music library matched. Its so convenient to just add some ripped music on the computer and then its available across all my devices.

Will it work if I start to pay for Apple Music? I am not interested in streaming. Just want to add my ripped music. I use Spotify for streaming.

Over the last few weeks, an ever-increasing number of Apple users have been frustratingly sharing issues they're experiencing with iTunes Match, Apple's service that allows users to upload songs to iCloud from other sources, such as CDs.

itunes_match_2015.jpg

iTunes Match is officially part of an Apple Music subscription and is there known as iCloud Music Library. iTunes Match allows users to upload songs and make them available across all of their devices. iTunes Match only uploads songs to users' cloud if it's unavailable to find that same song within the iTunes library. iTunes Match is available outside of Apple Music for $24.99 a year.

Over the last few weeks, an increasing number of users have taken to Twitter, the Apple Support Forums, and Reddit to note that the service has essentially stopped working. Users reports that iTunes Match is stuck in a constant loop of uploading songs or "Matching your music with songs in the iTunes Store." The issue has become so widespread across Twitter that users have created an "iTunesMatchBroken" hashtag.

A large reason for users' frustration is the silence from Apple on the issue. The Apple Support account on Twitter has only responded to some user reports with vague responses and prompts to send the support team a message. In private conversation, some users were told by Apple Support that there is no ongoing issue with the service and that it's instead an issue with their device, despite the widespread nature of issues.

A few of the reports point to the recent macOS Big Sur 11.5 update as the trigger for the issue; however, users across macOS versions are also sharing their unpleasant experiences.

For the last week, Apple has refused to respond to comment on the situation, including whether the service is in the process of being shut down. If we do hear back from Apple, we'll be sure to let MacRumors readers know.

Service seems to work again here in Denmark, for the first time in months. It has been a sporadic problem.

I have experienced syncing problems since March 2021, and have been in contact with Apple Support on two different Macs and two different versions of MacOS. Their solution both times was to upgrade to Big Sur and update to the latest version of that. I have had the issue on Mojave, Catalina and on a MacBook Air with Big Sur, latest update.

I just started the Music.app and everything got matched/uploaded without a problem now. (not sure if it's relevant, but I'm in Germany)

Same here for me! I had a match pending for 5 days now and it just got matched and all seems well. Maybe they fixed it?

It started synching again. I did also notice that quite a few "uploaded" files now have a "matched" status. Pretty sure they were uploaded and not matched before.

4 Track EP that didn’t match in over 4 hours the other day, magically matched in about 1 minute this morning. That’s a good sign.

Yay! I've had three albums stuck on "Waiting" for about 4 days, and they all Matched at some point overnight for me, too. I've got a few other albums I was going to add to my Library, but was waiting for this situation to clear up. I'll try those in a bit and report back how long it takes...

Glad to chime in to say that it looks like it's finally working again! It matched/uploaded the last 4 stragglers I had in "Waiting..."

To make sure that wasn't just a fluke, I deliberately deleted an entire album using my iPad and added it back using my MacBook to force a rescan. The entire album matched! 🥳

1st post. Wanted to reply, so finally registered.

2021 AUG 09 MON AM:

It seems that iTunes Match is finally working as it should, this morning. Apple really need to be transparent on this situation, or anything else that concerns their products & services.
Hopefully, this isn't some short term fix.

Cancelling Match now.. at the end of the day if something breaks I have my favorite tunes on CD or vinyl anyway, in other words getting too old to care haha. And I’m way too invested in my Apple Music library to consider canceling that service (well done Apple..).

I added 4 more albums and all but 3 tracks matched for me.
