Hey guys,

I know this topic never gets old :D

I have an Apple Music Subscription and with the german Telekom a contract, which allows the App to stream music without using any of my data. I now found out that the "iTunes Media Service" sucks up a lot of data and I could not figure out what it was, until this morning, where I reset my statistics.

I heard just music this morning and you can see that this used already some data, only by browsing and listening.

Do you have any idea how I can turn that stuff off? I believe it's the Artwork from the music but I'm not 100% sure.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I had an issue like this a few months ago, Media Services consumed about 2.5 GB PER NIGHT, with my phone charging overnight, not playing music at all, all of my playlists already downloaded, data disabled for streaming and downloads. Data disabled also for automatic App Store, downloads,It happened only at midnight but in the end nothing really worked, it "fixed" by itself after two weeks

Yeah, iTunes Media Services is clusterf---.

Some of the causes:
  • You may have automatic download turned on. Settings | iTunes & App Stores. Make sure Automatic Downloads is off of all 4 categories and "Use Cellular Data" is off.
  • Wi-Fi assist maybe flaky. Settings | Cellular | Wi-Fi Assist to off.
  • Car bug. If you are using your phone with a car as a music/podcast player, triggering audio on your car would sometimes trigger your phone to download the first alphabetical song. A workaround is keep at least one song on your device, ideally one that starts with A, disable Apple Music (Setting | Music | Show Apple Music off), don't ever buy music from iTunes, or delete Music app.
  • Your iPhone maybe corrupt. This requires setting up your phone as new (not from backup), painfully downloading and setting it up app by app.
