Hello All!

Like many of you i keep very organized iTunes library.

So I've separated music into Genres but i also have a Live genre, which ends up being a huge mix of genres.

I utilized the SmartPlaylists to group specific rated songs into Smart lives.

EX
Alternative and Rock both sort 4 and 5 star songs into the same playlist.

I would love to included Live songs in those playlists. However I don;t want Every 4 and 5 star ranked song in those playlists as song are in other genres.

I thought maybe I could utilize the "Grouping" Tab and fill in the actual genre the live music falls into its included in the Smart playlists.

Ex:
Counting Crows Live in NYC is Genre Live
But I would add Rock to grouping so its included in the smart playlist.

Has anyone come up with a better solution for this pretty specific issue?

The way I have it setup is similar, but it's switched - Grouping is "Live" and then the Genre is whatever it is. You don't have to specify the grouping in the Smart Playlist if you do it this way.

Rather than create a "Live" genre, I simply add (Live) to the end of any song name that is a live performance, regardless of the genre. You could then create a smart list for any genre that includes or excludes "(Live)" recordings.
