iPod iTunes Music Transfer Issue

Hi,

Of late, I've been finding that irrespective of whether my iPhone is plugged in to my Mac mini, or connected via iTunes WiFi sync, whenever I attempt to transfer music, I end up with a dotted circle on the music in my iPhone and no music playable.

I've found syncing and turning settings off an on again in iTunes operates as a temporary fix, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a permanent solution?

It makes iTunes very frustrating to use!
