Anyone else having an issue when booting back into Mavericks iTunes can not load with error "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?"

I know its because of the fact I loaded the same Library into Yosemite and have it on mavericks but wondering if anyone knows a way to get the new iTunes on mavericks.

    **Resolved thanks to fheusel's help!**

Apple hasn't released an iTunes 12 beta on 10.9 yet. You have two options either rebuild you iTunes library which is a pain, or stick with 10.10.

There is no way of taking 12 beta from 10.10 and installing it on 10.9.

Ill just boot into yosemite for iTunes for now, Hopefully they release iTunes 12 for 10.9 and I don't have to wait for the official release of 10.10 to have this resolved. Annoying but thats the price of beta testing. Goes to show everyone that even installing a beta on a separate drive can cause issues.

Same here when i loaded iTunes 12 and went back

I had loaded my library into Yosemite iTunes 12 and then saw this issue
I ended up copying my library onto the external drive I have Yosemite on
and them moved the original iTunes file into a folder calling it old iTunes
then I moved the latest itl file from Previous iTunes Libraries out and it is working again and I have most all my music back but need to reload some newer videos
and some newer music, but all of it is still in the iTunes media folder.

Sorry, I should have explained this step better.

Here is a detailed instruction for the whole process of getting iTunes 12 Beta running on Mavericks:

    I. Download and install the following Installer-packages from Apple:
    http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...y8iyikkvlfo7ve50hcnv7756uxuw/MobileDevice.pkg
    http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...ltkjay8iyikkvlfo7ve50hcnv7756uxuw/CoreADI.pkg
    http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...ultkjay8iyikkvlfo7ve50hcnv7756uxuw/CoreFP.pkg
    http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...y8iyikkvlfo7ve50hcnv7756uxuw/iTunesAccess.pkg
    http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...ltkjay8iyikkvlfo7ve50hcnv7756uxuw/iTunesX.pkg

II. Run these steps inside a terminal window after you installed the 5 Installer-packages:
    1. Download my binary-patchfile into your Downloads-folder
    Code:
    curl "https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/158132/iTunes12patch" -o ~/Downloads/iTunes12patch
    2. Change working-directory to the directory containing the iTunes-App binary
    Code:
    cd /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/
    3. Patch the binary using the patchfile
    Code:
    sudo bspatch ./iTunes ./iTunes ~/Downloads/iTunes12patch
    III. Done ;)

Now you should be able to run iTunes 12 Beta under Mavericks:

thank you so much for your help. However instead of installing homebrew I ended up just using:
    Code:
    cd /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/
    then

    Code:
    sudo bspatch ./iTunes ./iTunes ~/Downloads/iTunes12patch
You're files worked amazingly, thank you so much for all your help!!

Do you have tm backup? So after downgrading back to 10.9, just copy all itl, itdb and replace the newer ones. you are good to go.

I wanted the same library to work on both Maverics(main) drive and Yosemite(external) drive so the workaround above worked great.

    @fheusel:

Worked perfectly for me, though I had to change the iTunes12b2patch file name to match the one given in your last terminal command.
Cheers for all your effort :)
