iTunes Not Recognizing iPhone

Plugged in iPhone5 and brought up iTunes. After a delay I get a message saying 'iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device.'

Under devices everything is greyed out. But I've gotten a question 'Do I trust this computer? Yes.

Anyway, how do I connect?
