I realize this has been addressed previously and some people offered solutions but to date none of them has worked for me. I deleted the .xml file in iTunes and started a new one - all that did was make a total mess of my iTunes music files. I am using the latest iTunes update and iMovie updates. Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?

You can drag and drop music straight from the iTunes window into iMovie.

You should be able to drag and drop music and photo files. Video files have to be imported via the File Menu>Import>Movies... option.
