iTunes on External Hard Drive?

Hi, I have a 13" MBP with 160gb hard drive and I only have 5gb left. I have a 250gb external hard drive and was wondering if it is possible to store my itunes library on that? Would it be easy to do so? I have mostly movies and TV shows.

Yes, you just copy the iTunes data directory to the new location and point to it in the iTunes advanced preferences.

If the location to which iTunes points is not present, you won't be able to start it.
