Hi guys.

Apple had scrapped Safari from Windows. Shame.

Apple still has iTunes on Windows. It feels like it hasnt been optimized since windows xp.

This is Apples one and only chance to show Windows users how good its software is. To entice them to Mac OS.

What do they do? They make the laggiest, most bloated POS software possible.

I'm running a 8700k at 5ghz, and a RTX 2080, and the thing crashes half the time when I try to even resize the window. Scrolling is 10fps at most. This is a system which runs every AAA game maxed out over 250fps.
It's not the system.

What's Apples plan here?

Others thoughts of iTunes on Windows?

I don't do anything too exotic except use it to restore my iPad or iPhone, backup iDevices, stream internet radio, and playback my iTunes purchases (movies and music).

Mmm fair enough.

For fun, try to resize the window and watch the pixelated, laggy nightmare begin.

Scrolling also feels the clunckiest out of any windows software. its so choppy..

Just watched a couple of trailers and resizing, moving, stopping, and re-starting was fine. There was no pixelation or audio drop outs. This was done with the 2500k's integrated GPU and not overclocked.

Scrolling through the list of movies and songs in the iTunes store and locally-stored music was fine too.

Hmmm it could be a bug with the RTX drivers then? I dont remember it ever being this bad before upgrading..

I have zero trouble, but I don’t use it very often in Windows. Mainly to download new music I purchased on the mac side of things (dual boot). I usually use musicbee on windows for playback. I have a radeon 580 8gb and an i7 latest gen. 16 gb ram...

agree itunes on windows is garbage, has been for years. I'm on a 6 core at 4.8GHz and 3600MHz RAM and its laggy and barely usable. If you're on win10 the version of itunes in the MS store is slightly better but not much. At least the updates are painless

Honestly I think it depends on how demanding a user you are. If listening to music is all you do (like me), you probably won't have many problems. I'm not sure how much the specs of one's PC really matter.

I agree, it's terrible. On a 4K display at least. It doesn't crash for me, but scrolling is extremely slow, especially through playlists. Feels very laggy and clunky. Wish it would be optimized.

Agreed. My windows pc has iTunes and it won’t even update right. Every tine I need to update it, I have to uninstall and reinstall it from Apple website. They don’t care about windows users one bit. Hence why they don’t even autocapitalize the name windows. Lol

I have a 4k display and a 1080p second monitor and have zero problems with this.

So what's the solution. Cause one year later of this thread and my system which is no slouch Itunes runs so laggy.
Outside of working at Apple and releasing a hardware-acceleratred iTunes yourself.. theres no iTunes solution.

1) Use a different Music program
2) Wait to see what Apple releases. A couple months back there was a hiring by Apple of a developer who specializes in Windows applications. Here's to hoping its iTunes related.
