this figures, i live 50 or so miles from a local bottler, and i haven't found one itunes bottle yet. I figured that i would have won at least 20 songs by now being that my university is a Pepsi product school.

In the DC area the 7-11's have the cups. Some 7-11's and stores like them are slowly getting the 20oz and 1lt. bottles in. So far no grocery stores in Northern Virginia have the bottles with the iTunes.

well, i've been around a good chunk of the middle of St. Louis and haven't found any yet, nor across the river in a few towns in Illinois. I stopped at a convience store this morning and found a pepsi bottle with the billion dollar promo labeling (which i think was from last summer)

I am beginning to wonder if Southern California is not going to see them at all. I have been checking and the current promotion has something to do with the Lakers.

I even saw an ad on KNBC last night about the Pepsi-Lakers bottle cap promo. That means it's current now. It's as if the local bottler has the right to sell promo rights independent of any national promos, and we're getting screwed.

Not being a California native, this is just one more reason for me to hate the Lakers...

Being a Clipper fan AND also not being a California native, this is another reason for me to hate the Lakers too. :p

Boy, I had a bad day today with the 7-Eleven cups. Got two on my way to work to drink during the day, no free tunes. Picked up another 2 on the way home and decided to see if I could get away with double-cupping one of them (I thought the guy might not notice just one). I did get the double cup, but as I was driving out of the parking lot, one of them spilled ALL OVER the floor of my car. Doh! And to top it all off, still no free tunes. I'm now 1 for 7, I need to win the next 2 times just to catch up!

Oh, and Go Clippers! :D

Hey I don't think you should be complaining just cos you can't get free itunes where you live. You should try living in Europe where Apple puts 50% on the price of everything (eg 15" iMac = $1299 in US but = £999 = $1800 in UK and that is with the £ at the highest level against the $ for 15 years) and there is no itunes at all! "Sorry itunes is not available in your country" :( So you see you don't have it so bad just cos you haven't won a free tune. :)

Hey I don't think you should be complaining just cos you got a head. You should try living on Decapatatia where God puts people together without heads (eg. Roland the Headless Stamp Collector of Tinsbury Hall, West Decapitatia) and there are no heads at all. "Sorry heads are not available on your planet" :( So you see you don't have it so bad just cos you haven't won a free hat.

(No offense intended, Dub. I just disagree that we can't complain. Complaining is an essential part of the human condition.:))

In the end who is really putting that 50% on? Could be VAT and other taxes and duties? Could also be the value of the Dollar verses other currencies?

Too me it is too easy to blame the manufacturer. I also make this statement in that Apple USA is the same company distributing in other countries. In the photo biz, you have the manufactures and then you have the distributers that have to recoup their expenses.

It goes much deeper than you think....

Sorry I totally forgot tax! Without any taxes the UK price is $1550... This is the direct from Apple price I'm comparing so I don't think distributors are to blame.
