Is there a way to ony upload a fraction of the songs from itunes to an ipod? I don't have enough room to upload my entire library and am worried about what might happen when I try to upload again. Thanks

Go to iPod preferences and check manually manage your playlist.

...or create a couple of playlists with the appropriate number of songs, and tell iTunes to automaticly sync those playlists...

...or create smart playlists that are restricted to a certain size of GBs, via the "Limit to..." option. Works great!
