iTunes problem playing videos

Not sure if this is the right forum for this. I can't get any videos to play in iTunes. These were free shows downloaded recently from iTunes. I tried to get some of the new TV show pilots. When I hit play, I just get a black screen and nothing happens. This is on my 2015 MBP 13". I recently upgraded iTunes and to Sierra. When I try to play on my older iMac running latest iTunes and Yosemite it just crashes iTunes. Are others having problems?

I am having video problems I can't figure out yet. Some videos in iTunes won't play, some will. All play with VLC so I know it's not a file problem. I haven't dug in very deeply yet, but it seems the larger, higher bit rate videos are the ones that won't play. Any ideas?
