Hi, I'm new here.

Yesterday I connected my iPod to my computer to update it, and after the update was complete, I noticed some problems with iTunes. For starters, the play count on many of my songs have been altered significantly (for example on some it says my play count on a particular song is -1065187914 or some similar number). Also, I had rated most of my 3,960 songs and most of those ratings have either been deleted or altered. And sometimes when I click to play a song, another song's rating will appear and then disappear.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there anything I can do to reverse these changes? I was especially fond of my play counts since I can always go through and re-rate my music.

My iPod is a 20gig if that helps anybody. Thanks in advance!

Several people in this thread have had similar problems.

From what I can tell, there is no fix other than to reset the playcount for those particular songs (right-click --> reset playcount)...

:(

edit: If you're on a Mac, you can use this script to change the playcount to whatever you want, assuming you have a rough estimate of what it should be.
