iTunes - Purchasing an HD TV episode later?

Hi!

I've been addicted to House recently and I've been purchasing some shows for viewing on my MBP. I've been looking all over the place for the answer but I have turned up nothing.

If I buy a non-HD TV episode, will Apple allow me to pay the rest for the HD episode later? Or would I have to pay the full price for the HD episode anyway?

No, there is no 'Upgrade to HD' option that I'm aware of. I just checked on the past three seasons of Mad Men and I did not see any option that would allow me to pay the difference for HD.

Well that sucks. I guess I'd better start buying them in HD before the gap widens. Thanks!
