Hey everyone! I'm not 100% that this is the proper place to put this, but I am getting a little desperate here. It seems that iTunes is quitting unexpectedly on me. Every time I try to open iTunes, whether it's from the dock, directly from the Applications folder, or by plugging in my iPhone, I get an error message that says, "The Application 'iTunes' has quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other Applications are unaffected." Here is the error log: Process: iTunes  Path: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes Identifier: com.apple.iTunes Version: 7.6 (7.6) Build Info: iTunes-7602902~4 Code Type: X86 (Native) Parent Process: launchd  Date/Time: 2008-04-08 08:53:00.763 -0400 OS Version: Mac OS X 10.5.2 (9C7010) Report Version: 6 Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) Exception Codes: 0x000000000000000a, 0x0000000014353af8 Crashed Thread: 0 Thread 0 Crashed: 0 dyld 0x8fe16841 ImageLoaderMachO::doRebase(ImageLoader::LinkContext const&) + 257 1 dyld 0x8fe0d561 ImageLoader::recursiveRebase(ImageLoader::LinkContext const&) + 81 2 dyld 0x8fe1053c ImageLoader::link(ImageLoader::LinkContext const&, bool, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) + 188 3 dyld 0x8fe051ae dyld::link(ImageLoader*, bool, ImageLoader::RPathChain const&) + 158 4 dyld 0x8fe0bb73 dlopen + 691 5 libSystem.B.dylib 0x929a2a22 dlopen + 66 6 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x9334f983 _CFBundleDlfcnLoadBundle + 307 7 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x933502a7 _CFBundleLoadExecutableAndReturnError + 567 8 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x93350381 CFBundleLoadExecutable + 33 9 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x933505db CFBundleGetFunctionPointerForName + 107 10 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cb3f66 _cf_lookupLibraryEntry(rtFile*, RegisteredComponent*) + 126 11 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cb3c95 LoadComponent + 167 12 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cb3ac1 OpenAComponent + 239 13 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cb39cc OpenComponent + 24 14 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cb5661 CallComponent + 143 15 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cb55cd CallComponentDispatch + 29 16 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cd5702 CallComponentGetPublicResource + 56 17 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96e987fe cchaMissing + 362 18 ...ple.CoreServices.CarbonCore 0x92cd50f7 GetComponentPublicResourceList + 481 19 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96e98540 startUsingCachedCodecCharacterizations + 361 20 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96e97ae8 FindBestChain + 29 21 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96e96749 ICMSequenceGetChain + 407 22 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96e8dfd3 DoBandedDecompress + 5764 23 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96e8c4bc ICMAction + 508 24 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96e8b20a ICMDeviceLoop + 557 25 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96f1f718 PrivateDecompressImage + 1266 26 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96eda3f1 PrivateStdPix + 898 27 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96f1f217 DoDecompressImage + 316 28 com.apple.QuickTime 0x96f1ea7a CompressedOpcode + 2319 29 com.apple.QD 0x94e2c6ed StdOpcode + 465 30 com.apple.QD 0x94e2c0da DrawPicture + 3197 31 com.apple.iTunes 0x001ecb86 0x1000 + 2014086 32 com.apple.iTunes 0x001e1cb4 0x1000 + 1969332 33 com.apple.iTunes 0x001e2cfa 0x1000 + 1973498 34 com.apple.iTunes 0x00050327 0x1000 + 324391 35 com.apple.iTunes 0x000369ff 0x1000 + 219647 36 com.apple.iTunes 0x000396f0 0x1000 + 231152 37 com.apple.iTunes 0x00269eba 0x1000 + 2526906 38 com.apple.iTunes 0x00002342 0x1000 + 4930 39 com.apple.iTunes 0x00002269 0x1000 + 4713 Thread 0 crashed with X86 Thread State (32-bit): eax: 0x14100000 ebx: 0x8fe16754 ecx: 0x00253af8 edx: 0x14100000 edi: 0x1400ba10 esi: 0x1436d0b8 ebp: 0xbfffb948 esp: 0xbfffb900 ss: 0x0000001f efl: 0x00010246 eip: 0x8fe16841 cs: 0x00000017 ds: 0x0000001f es: 0x0000001f fs: 0x00000000 gs: 0x00000037 cr2: 0x14353af8 Not quite sure what it all means. I've done all the basics. I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, both from a downloaded .dmg and from the installation disk that came with my Mac (using Pacifist and force-overriding files). I've gone and moved all my preference files to the desktop, still won't start. Finally, I've repaired the preferences with Disk Utility, but that STILL doesn't help. I'm completely stuck, I don't know what to do! I have only one option left, and it's a radical one. If nothing works I can take my Mac OS X disk and reformat my entire hard drive, then do a clean install of Mac OS X complete with iLife. If THAT doesn't work nothing will! But then I'd lose ALL my work, plus applications that I might not find anymore as they are hidden in niches all over the internet. I'd REALLY rather not have to go down that road. One other thing, just before iTunes started crashing on me (it didn't before) I tried to use Apple's "Front Row" Application to play a few music videos. These promptly crashed (they presented a blank black screen and then reverted to desktop). After that iTunes failed to work completely. Prior to this I never used "Front Row" and iTunes worked just fine. Could this be a possible cause? If it is, how do I fix it? Removing "Front Row" by the way, didn't help. I also tried reinstalling Quicktime (because the error log mentioned Quicktime, although I don't think it's the root cause of my problem) but to no avail. At this point I am very short on possible strategies to combat this. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful for the help, because I'm at the end of my rope. Please help me!
