howdy-- long time listener, first time caller. I just bought a dual-processor 1.25ghz G4 last week, as I'd grown out of working on audio on my trusty ibook 700g3. it came w/ panther, which was a nice surprise, as it appeared that the g4's were only shipping w/ jaguar on the apple site.

Re-installing/upgrading all my software to work w/ panther has been less than a joy, but this itunes problem is a royal pain in the buns... when I try to burn a playlist, I get the message "disc burner or software not found." searching the apple knowledge base and google has been less-than-fruitful... both Peak (4) and Cubase (SL) see the burner and work fine w/ it, as does toast in OS9.2... but itunes, strangely, doesn't.

I upgraded to 4.2 via the web before I even used itunes on the new machine... all permissions have been repaired after installs, disks have been de-fragged/diskwarrior'ed... and I'm out of ideas. would like to try this before I call up and apple and read them the riot act...

thanks
Dave

also, just fyi, here's the info from system profiler:

Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Model: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4480B
Revision: 1.03
Serial Number:
Drive Type: CD-RW/DVD-ROM
Disc Burning: Apple Supported/Shipped
Removable Media: Yes
Detachable Drive: No
BSD Name: disk3
Protocol: ATAPI
Unit Number: 0
Socket Type: Internal
OS9 Drivers: No

so based in this, it's:

a. weird that it worked in os9 w/ toast
b. weird that there's no serial #...

any ideas/thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
