iTunes reports reduced iPhone capacity after iOS 8 install

I, along with some other posters, have noticed a reduction in free space after installing iOS 8 (and in my case, through iTunes and not OTA).

I also noticed that iTunes is reporting my iPhone's total capacity as less than before - in the "Summary" tab, iTunes reports my 16 GB iPhone's capacity to be 12.74 GB (I assume after accounting for the OS), but I remember it being 13.x under iOS 7.

Anyone else with a 16GB iPhone seeing the 12.74 GB capacity under iOS 8? Anyone remember seeing a larger capacity under iOS 7?

Yes you will get this since the OS update will take up space.
to get more space, Perform a a full restore from backup.

Was considering that, just worried about losing game progress... but I guess it's worth pulling the trigger...
