Hi

I am sure this is a question which has a very simple answer to but would be most grateful if somebody could clarify the issue..

I downloaded two seasons from itunes store in HD. fantastic quality - am sure to buy many many more.. But why does itunes show a different file size in its tv show pane to the size in Finder.. approx 10-12gb in size differences..

any help would be appreciated..

thanks

That's because iTunes uses the binary system (2^x), Mac OS' Finder (as of 10.6) uses the decimal system (10^x), so there are light discrepancies in the showing of file sizes.

A file showing in iTunes with 9.3MB will show up in Finder as being 10MB in size.
So 93GB in iTunes will show as 100GB in Finder.

How big are those season folders anyway?

You can switch your Mac to Base-2 using a third-party hack if you want unified file sizes.

I still think it is stupid of Apple to switch Finder to Base-10, yet leave everything else in Base-2.
