iTunes software EQ and USB DAC

Hi, just wondering if using iTune's software EQ (to reduce treble, not to boost anything) at the same time as I'm using a USB DAC will have any negative effect on sound quality or if I'll need a hardware EQ for the best sound. Thanks!
