iTunes song download quick question

In iTunes there is now a way to download previous purchase's :apple::apple: . Lets say I own the song Bad Day in DRM 128 KBS format. I would have to pay .30 to upgrade it to 254 kbs and drm free. However if i download it is it drm free?
