It seems that iTunes is not respecting custom “Sort Artist” fields when in “Album by Year” mode for tracks bought from the iTS recently (I’m assuming it’s an iTunes 9 thing).
Rarely do I buy music from iTunes, but today the John Butler Trio released an iTunes exclusive, which I bought. Then I changed all the “Sort Artist” fields to “Butler, John Trio”. When I sort by artist, everything is fine. But “Album by Year” puts the new album down with the Js. To make it MORE complicated, I have one other JBT track I purchased from iTunes awhile back and changed the sort artist field the same way. And it doesn’t have this problem. It’s only the NEW stuff that does.
Very annoying.
